Composition Notebook Jackets

Hello my name is Anya and I'm obsessed with school supplies!

If there was some sort of School Supplies Anonymous group out there I would be their most frequent member.  I'm that weird teacher who gets super excited when the stores start putting out school supplies right after the 4th of July.  You would think it's Christmas or something.  I have to check out all the usual stores to see what cool things they have come out with this year and plan where I'm going to get all my new "stuff" at.  Typically there is at least one day over the summer where I take all my shopping bags to the school and get myself set up.

Anyways...The reason for this post is I came across the most magical thing in Interactive Notebook history!  COMPOSITION NOTEBOOK JACKETS!!! (Can you tell I'm super excited about these?)

I found these lovelies at Walmart just above the composition notebooks, in the school supply section. They were only $0.97 each.

These jackets keep the cover from getting damaged, but also on one side has a zipper pouch to keep your pencils in.

Usually to make sure the cover doesn't get to nasty I cover them in clear shipping tape...my post on how I set up my notebooks...but this would make it so much easier.  It might also help cut down on them forgetting a writing utensil.

  1. Hello, I LOVE your blog! You have been truly an inspiration in my planning this year since I will have 4 special education classes this year. I would love to know if you put your students in groups during instruction?

    1. I currently have 20 desks in my room, 4 groups of 5, but not all desks are full of students. They generally sit in groups of 3 for everything. I love the collaboration that happens among my students, and since they often are with the same students for the next 4 years I want them to build a relationship similar to a family. They can't do this when they are sitting alone. I often give them problems or questions before instruction for them to work together to see what they come up with.

Hope this helps! If you need anything else or have any questions please feel free to email me or leave me more comments :) Email: anyaostapczuk@gmail.com

  4. Anya, I am interested in starting the Interactive Student journals for math in my special education classroom. Many of your posts and foldables have been so useful. Is there a resource or book that you would recommend to begin the process and keep my focus. When I search and look on Pinterest it is a little overwhelming.
